LaSalle School LPN in Albany, New York

The LaSalle School is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) (Part-Time, up to 20 hours per week, non-exempt, hourly).

The staff nurse is responsible for providing: * Basic health care needs of all students of LaSalle. * Under supervision of the RN on duty and in collaboration with other team members, provides direct and indirect patient care in accordance with MY Health Laws Act, professional standards of care, state regulations and LaSalle philosophy, policies and procedures. * Also obtains consultation with other ancillary providers, internal and external on an ongoing basis.

Job Responsibilities: * Providing nursing care to male adolescents in a residential setting under the direction and supervision of the RN. * Providing immediate first aid and triage and refer as needed for appropriate treatment. * Update immunizations as per La Salle procedure in accordance with N.Y.S. Health Laws Act as community liaison with outside providers and advocate for timely delivery of health care. * Assist other agency team members in providing medical, emotional, and psychological support to students in various stages of crisis. * To administer all medications and perform all treatments ordered by MD in a timely and diligent manner. * To document on appropriate records all pertinent medical information. To schedule and record any medically necessary requests to see a MD. * To use and perform professional nursing judgment in the treatment of ill or injured students and refer appropriate as needed. * To prepare required medical reports and other documents related to the health care of the students. * To attend staff meetings, care conferences, and in services as requested to discuss new medical practices or procedures, and to coordinate with other members of the nursing team to ensure continuity of care. * To be available for coverage in case of emergencies, or in times of increased workload, including coverage of alternate shifts to meet staffing needs when they occur. * To perform all duties that may arise to ensure quality medical care for our clients.
