LaSalle School Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in Albany, New York

The LaSalle School is seeking an Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Part-Time, 8-16 hours per week, non-exempt/hourly). This position will report to the Director of Clinical Services and/or Associate Director.

Overview of Position

The Nurse Practitioner provides: * Medical/ psychiatric evaluations, treatment, training, and consultation services to all agency program areas. * The position works collaboratively within an integrated treatment team consisting of other physicians/ psychiatrists, nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers, mental health counselors, faculty, and direct care staff. * Provides clinical assessments of youth and provides expert assistance in the development, delivery, and monitoring of effective treatment interventions for youth in all program areas. * This position also provides psychiatric crisis evaluations and individual counseling sessions, as appropriate and assigned by the Director.

General Responsibilities and Duties: * Provides psychiatric assessment, crisis intervention, treatment, and medication management to assigned caseload within an integrated treatment team and participate in all assigned treatment team meetings. * Prescribes and monitors efficacy of psychotropic medication as appropriate and be available for after hours crisis management, urgent medication requests. * Provides training to staff regarding mental health, psychotropic medications, behavioral dynamics, and support agency efforts to provide effective, trauma informed treatment and foster professional development of clinical and other agency staff. * Serves as a resource for clinical and nursing staff and supervise nurse practitioners as assigned * Provide medical oversight to OASAS and OMH licensed program areas as assigned and required by relevant state regulations * Assist with agency efforts to educate and engage family members and referral agency representatives in a youths treatment to foster lasting healing, recovery, and stability.

Qualifications - Required

  • Board Certified Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry
  • Experience with juvenile justice, special education, and behaviorally challenged adolescent populations
  • Demonstrates motivation to positively support agency mission, philosophy, and expectations
  • Knowledge of effective behavioral interventions, assessments
  • Familiarity with relevant DOH, OASAS, OMH, Medicaid, and commercial insurance regulations

Pay From $75.00 per hour
