Solar Installation - Project Manager

We are currently seeking several positions to join our Solar Team in Albany, New York; The Solar Installation – Project Manager leads, builds and manages the construction of our projects for our solar customers. They work with suppliers, our engineers and the team, to ensure successful completion and closeout of the projects designed.

Responsibilities include:

Preliminary Site Assessment, Managing Construction and workmanship, arriving at and managing best practices to meet the goals of our installations, and ensuring proper cost and timely delivery at construction close-out. This work includes:

  • Reviewing and approving plans for sites

  • Verifying site information from dimensions, to structure and electrical characteristics

  • Climbing ladders and occasionally working on roof tops

  • Completing forms and surveys alone, or with our engineers and partners with information such as:

  • roof dimensions, azimuth, Pathfinder photos

  • electrical service information

  • reviewing layouts with engineering for orientation and system components

  • reviewing rack and flashing layouts

  • Review and approve final BOM for order from our pre-negotiated suppliers with engineer’s involvement as necessary.

  • Consideration and attention to cost, quality, client needs and satisfaction and workmanship during the entire process.

Skillsets include:

Administrative Skills:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word

  • General filing, organization and safekeeping of documents

  • Calling customers and vendors in a timely manner

  • Tracking and entering job related information into our proprietary customer relationship system.

Math Skills:

  • Possessing the necessary mathematical skills: unit conversions, fractions, decimals, percentages and basic algebra

  • Paying particular attention to the numbers on all documents: reviewing engineering calculations, performing ohm’s law, ampacities, KW, customer payments, price quotes and vendor sales orders

Communication Skills:

  • Own your communications. Positive. Team Oriented. Clear. Motivating.

  • Ensuring all communications are team oriented, and each team department is involved and aware of key events.

  • Communicate with all individuals on the team as necessary in a positive, on-time, respectful and clear manner.

  • Communicate on phone with clients to ensure satisfaction and commitment to on-time delivery.

  • Communicate frequently via email for tracking purposes with clients, to ensure they are aware of delivery and installation timeline, in a positive manner.

  • Communicate with subcontractors and team members in a polite and professional manner to ensure a positive environment and getting things completed – on time, under budget and exceeding expectations!

Solar Skills:

  • Your experience, and education, will guide the Solar knowledge set. We hire people, not simply positions. Share what you know, and the solar skills will be supplemented.

  • You will be trained, but you will be expected to grow and be self-motivated. Solar changes fast, we promote team growth and your thirst for knowledge.

  • Your responsibility will include all things that Solar Installers should know. This will be further clarified at an interview.

  • Familiarity with section 110 of the National Electric Code will be, or is, necessary.

  • NABCEP certification, or goal to get certifications.


  • Ability to work with daily exposure to outside environment including inclement weather.

  • Punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
