We have two openings for an NC Machinist. One is for first shift and one is for 2nd shift. With minimum supervision, sets up and operates, safely and most efficiently, all available CNC equipment. Will produce a great variety of intricate machine parts on such equipment and have full understanding of all pertaining tooling and programming, including the creation of programs and editing of programs.
Sets up and operates all CNC equipment with absolute minimum supervision.
Uses considerable independent judgment and technical knowledge to control and execute all operations in the machining of parts on equipment. Responsible for ensuring that such operations are performed in a cost efficient and quality oriented manner.
Works from complex drawings and program readouts. Has full understanding of the programming process and its correlation with the print. Comprehends and works effectively to brief verbal instructions.
Selects specified cutting tools and fully understands their function, makes adjustments, and minor repairs. Substitutes appropriate tools as needed.
Selects and sets up proper inspection tools. Checks and verifies the accuracy of all work performed and is responsible for consistent good quality.
Proves out new CNC programs and makes necessary changes to ensure that high quality parts are produced and optimum production is obtained. Utilizes experience and knowledge to make improvements on old programs.
Analyzes performance tools, determines source of malfunction, and takes corrective action.
Maintains work area, tools, and equipment in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
Performs preventative maintenance on machine and tools. Informs supervisor regarding necessary repairs on both as well as the need for replacement parts and tools.
Assists in the training of new operators.
Ability to edit CNC code as needed and develop a detailed machining plan .
Ability to read and interpret complex drawings with full understanding of all different methods of dimensioning and all symbols. Must have good knowledge of shop math. Ability to comprehend and visualize all written set up instructions and sketches, normally associated with a technical high school education directed toward machine shop technology.
Ability to interpret CNC programs. Basic knowledge of CNC programming. Must be able to make changes on programs and implement such changes by editing same into the machine’s computer.
Knowledge of all machine shop terms. Good knowledge of general machine shop practice and practical experience on conventional machine tools. Ability to handle all measuring instruments with the feel of a class “A” machinist. This is normally acquired in 6 years of related experience.
Mechanical ability and manual dexterity to perform all required duties with relative ease. Ability to cope with occasional mental/visual strain associated with some precision jobs.
Physical stamina for standing during working hours, and to safely handle all parts and accessories typical of machine shop operation.
