HeartShare Children's Residence Shift Supervisor in Brooklyn, New York

The Senior Direct Support Professional (SDSP) is responsible for the overall supervision of his/her group or shift, including the services being provided to the individuals as well as supervision of staff. It is the Senior DSP's responsibility to maintain the staff's focus on maximizing both program services and personalized community inclusion opportunities for individuals, as well as providing for their overall physical and emotional well-being. The children are diagnosed with intellectual/developmental disabilities including autism (ages 12-21).


· Minimum of high school diploma/GED, BA preferred

· Minimum one year experience working with individuals with developmental


· Must be available to work evenings and weekends

· Excellent verbal and written abilities

· Driver's license preferred


  1. Will provide guidance to Direct Support Staff in cooperation with and in the absence of Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator.

  2. Will provide care and assist with personal development of residents.

  3. Will ensure that all shift assignments are completed as required.

  4. Will prepare clear and accurate written reports including Incident Reports, Fire Drill forms, Physical Plant Checklist, Occurrences, monitor COVID related paperwork, and other reports as assigned.

  5. Conduct annual and semi-annual IDT reviews of individuals to report on their behavioral needs and progress.

  6. Will assist program participants in all activities which are designed to foster independence, personal community growth and social maturity.

  7. Support and teach individuals according to their services, goals, and outcomes. Actively engage individuals in skills development, socialization and task participation across all settings.

  8. Additional responsibilities as requested by Program Coordinator.
