Leake and Watts Services Foster Board Home Supervisor in Brooklyn, New York

Responsible for supervising the day-to-day case management activities for the Foster Boarding Home Program Incumbent supervises the assessment, planning, family engagement and evaluation process for case workers - ensuring compliance with Permanency Services guidelines, quality standards and performance indicators for foster care. Work includes managing the intake process, supervising assessments and service planning, overseeing referrals and discharge activities as well as the coordination of linkages with community based support programs and services. Work is performed under the supervision of the Director or Assistant Director of Foster Boarding Homes.

  • Assists the director in monitoring program effectiveness, including assessment, planning and compliance with department and regulatory guidelines.

  • Participates in permanency planning for children and families entering the foster care system; manages a limited caseload, when necessary; help expedite permanency goals of reunification or placement.

  • Supervises case management and case work activities; approve caseworker assessments, individualized family service plans and referrals to specialty consultants and neighborhood based service providers; reviews case work activities to ensure progress toward permanency goals.

  • Supports the transition of children into and out of foster care, including support for care providers, foster and natural parents; in complex family situations, assist social worker in setting goals and finding creative solutions to problem situations.

  • Provides regular supervision to case workers and support staff, ensuring that children and families are appropriately counseled and are participants in treatment planning and execution; ensures that case contact requirements are met, as mandated and required; conducts individual and group supervisory sessions.

  • Makes suitable care arrangements when the child has to be separated from his/her family in emergency situations.

  • Provides assistance to case workers in establishing family support networks and securing support services (i.e., housing, medical, educational, mental health services) for families, guardians and children; help develop activities to help children and families to effectively utilize available social, medical, educational, employment, legal and other resources which enable them to function at the highest possible level.

Minimum requirement of a Master’s degree in social work, psychology or related area from an accredited four-year college/university. Master’s degree in social work preferred. At least three years of documented satisfactory experience in counseling working with a child-family population. Two years of demonstrated successful supervisory experience preferred.

Annual Salary $70,000-$72,000
