Dynamical systems for social good
Post-Doctoral position - Tandon School of Engineering, New York University
Post-doc positions are available in the Dynamical Systems Laboratory (DSL) at the Tandon School of Engineering, New York University in a wide variety of research projects that are signature scopes of our multidisciplinary group. The positions are fully funded with a competitive salary.
We seek for independent, motivated, and creative individuals to conduct fundamental research in the broad area of complex systems. The candidate will be making important contributions to one or multiple research projects supported by our several ongoing grants (see https://wp.nyu.edu/dsl/publications/). We strongly encourage applications from candidates with a strong background in network science, data science, applied mathematics, and statistics. Depending on the candidate’s background and interests, their research could involve a wide range of topics, from causal inference to mathematical modeling and analysis of sociotechnical and engineering systems. For example, ongoing research seeks to understand the causes of firearm-related harms and improve healthcare working through data-intensive enhanced cognition.
The DSL was established fifteen years ago by Prof. Maurizio Porfiri (Institute Professor at Tandon School of Engineering, with appointments at the Center for Urban Science and Progress, the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, the Department of Biomedical Engineering, and the Department of Civil and Urban Engineering). The DSL is home to a highly collaborative, vibrant group of young scholars, with complementary expertise across theory, experiments, and computation. The director, Prof. Porfiri, is the author of more than 350 journal publications and the recipient of numerous professional awards (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maurizio_Porfiri).
