Forkey Construction & Fabricating, Inc. Saw Operators in Cortland, New York
Sets up and operates power saws to cut, slot, groove, miter, and trim metallic and nonmetallic workpieces according to specifications
Selects and installs blade on machine, using hand tools.
Sets controls to adjust speed, feed rate, and blade tensions.
Positions guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct workpiece, using hand tools and measuring devices.
Required to wear Safety shoes, metatarsal guards, and safety glasses, hearing protection and cut resistance gloves.
Use of tape measures, calipers, verniers and protractor are necessary.
Ability to read blueprints and perform basic math.
Must be able to lift 75 to 100 pounds, verify dimensions of finished workpiece, using measuring devices.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Performs basic machine maintenance.
Keeps work area clean.
Documents the part processed.
Saves CNC programs on the machine.

It is helpful if skilled in the use of measurement tools, reading and interpreting blueprints.
