SUNY Delhi seeks a dynamic, forward thinking and engaging Financial Aid Assistant to the join the Office of Student Financial Services. The Financial Aid Assistant position is an entry-level professional position. The successful candidate will counsel prospective and current students and parents about the financial aid application, policies, procedures and availability of aid to meet their financial need as well as advising aid recipients on academic progress requirements associated with their financial aid.
Principal duties include:
Assist students and families with filling out and submitting the FAFSA
Meet with and counsel students and families regarding individual financial aid packages; answering questions and giving individual advisement to students/families in person, on the phone, by email and through virtual appointment.
Provide both in-person and virtual presentations on financial aid topics to local high schools and to SUNY Delhi students
Work with students and perform outreach to obtain the documentation necessary to process the FAFSA for those who are selected for verification
Process financial aid verifications of individual student aid applications as mandated by federal law
Participate in college events such as Open House, Orientation, Accepted Student Days
Sound understanding of federal and state financial aid programs and regulations including satisfactory academic progress
Runs and reviews reports to validate accuracy of awards while remaining compliant.
Running various financial aid processes to support the awarding of financial aid.
At least one year customer service/student support service
Strong attention to detail and time management skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate financial information clearly and concisely
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Available to work some evenings and weekends
SUNY or Higher Education financial aid experience
Ellucian Banner experience
Budget Title: Financial Aid Assistant, SL2
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday days, with occasional evenings and weekend work. Occasional travel to area high schools and conferences will be required.
Reports to: Assistant Director of Financial Aid
This is a 12-month position
