INFICON Senior Mechanical Engineer in East Syracuse, New York
In this role you will be responsible for the design and development of new ideas and solutions for new product development as well as supporting current products modification and improvements based on in-service needs and market strategy. You will support the concept, design and implementation of mechanical parts, sub-assemblies and final products. You will work closely with a new product development team of engineers, scientists, operations, advanced procurement, and marketing personnel on efficiently managed project teams where you are expected to meet or exceed performance, cost, and time line goals.
To design, develop, analyze, and test ideas and solutions for new product development as well as supporting current products which may include investigating, root cause analysis, modifying and/or improving. The Senior Mechanical Engineer provides expert knowledge of mechanical design and product development techniques of new products
Essential Job Functions
Design, analyze, troubleshoot, and sustain INFICON products
Lead day-to-day product development efforts
Represents the mechanical development aspect of product development in product planning meetings
Mentor less experienced engineers in the products, technologies, and development of INFICON products
Basic Job Skills
Ability to troubleshoot design, manufacturing, quality and/or supply chain related issues
Ability to generate reports, technical documentation, design reviews, and analyses.
Ability to design quality solutions that are manufacturable, serviceable, and reliable that meet INFICON product specifications
Ability to coordinate among multiple stakeholders outside of the mechanical engineering department
Industry experience designing solutions for the technologies used by INFICON
Ability to supervise and provide technical direction to more junior engineers and/or technicians

Education and/or Experience

Bachelors in Mechanical Technology; Mechanical Engineering; Mechanical Engineering Technology or related
Approximately seven years of industry experience, depending upon the ability of the job candidate to demonstrate the above behaviors
Leadership Responsibilities and Reporting Relationships
The Senior Mechanical Engineer directly reports to the Mechanical Engineering Manager. The Senior Mechanical Engineer may be assigned temporary leadership or mentorship responsibilities at the discretion of the Mechanical Engineering Manager. Such responsibilities will be limited in scope (i.e. a single project or technical area) and focus on transfer of knowledge and guidance within the Senior Mechanical Engineer’s areas of expertise.
This role requires lifting, carrying, and/or pushing up to 30lbs occasionally (less than 5% of the time).
