The Chief Enterprise Architect (CEA) is responsible for developing an inspiring architecture and technology roadmap while evangelizing and helping leaders enable the future-state capabilities across the organization. This in turn, will drive the organization’s targeted outcomes through the choice of programs, projects and initiatives the organization chooses to invest in. The CEA must be capable of practically applying existing, new and emerging technologies to new and evolving organizational models. Collaborating with the business segments the CEA should drive design, engineering, reuse, application of patterns for the architectures that comprise the solutions in a portfolio.

Responsibilities

Leads and coordinates all aspects of the CEA program including:

  • Leads, manages, and balances CEA programs

  • Foundational CEA, which maintains and evolves future-state IT capabilities with a focus on efficiency and predictability of the existing IT estate

  • Strategic CEA, which designs and enables future-state IT capabilities with a focus on technology disruption, speed, agility, and flexibility, while meeting today’s organizational needs

  • Solutions Architecture – develops a direction for managing the portfolio of to-be solutions

  • Application Architecture (as a subset of solutions architecture) – Provides a high-level vision of enterprise solutions and development initiatives applying Lean and systems thinking approaches to strategy and investment funding, Agile portfolio operations, and governance

  • Provides innovative enterprise solutions, builds consensus and provides architectural oversight for high profile technology initiatives

  • Lead, prioritize, and develop the overall enterprise architecture approach for the organization, and communicate architectural direction

  • Collaborate with segment architects to develop, maintain and govern enterprise architecture across the organization

  • Facilitates the reuse of code, components, and proven patterns

  • Aligns technology architecture with business strategy and goals. This includes researching, recommending, and introducing new technologies consistent with objectives of the company

  • Build, develop, mentor and grow our architecture team

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field

  • Hands on experience with software development lifecycles, system architectures and the exploration of technology trends

  • A proven track record demonstrating the ability to influence organizational change from an enterprise architecture perspective

  • Experience establishing a successful Enterprise Architecture program at a large firm would be preferred

  • Knowledge of modern architectural and design patterns

  • Experience and expertise in the Lean-Agile portfolio approach

  • Excellent technical, analytical and project management skills

  • Strong communication, influencing and interpersonal skills

  • Good leadership and talent management skills
