Local Driver - Non CDL Elmira, NY We are seeking a dependable local delivery truck driver with excellent customer services skills. As a part of our relocation team you will be responsible for driving a truck on a planned route to ensure deliveries are made on time. You will also assist in the loading and unloading process of goods. Previous warehouse and delivery experience is preferred and a clean driving record is required. <P>Duties and Responsibilities: Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned delivery vehicle.
Drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) under 26,000 lbs. Transport pallet goods and household items from place of origin to assigned destination.
Pick-up loads and organize and inventory goods in an ordered, logical manner.
Ensure contents are properly secured inside of truck to prevent breakage or damage.
Safely and efficiently handle and unload goods from truck at selected destinations.
Obtain signatures or warehouse scans to confirm and complete deliveries with clients and customers.
Assist warehouse staff and customers with loading and unloading processes.
Have a strong base knowledge regarding our services.
Interact with local customers, answer questions and advise them on our services.
Communicate traffic reports, delays, etc. to dispatch as needed.
Confirm contents of each shipment load matches the manifest document.
Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip.
Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean.
Maintain and service vehicle as needed ( refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.).
Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered.
Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs "ELD".
Adhere to company rules and regulations.
Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions.
Comply with ICC and DOT regulations.
Make safety a priority at all times.
<P>Requirements and Qualifications: High School diploma or GED equivalent, preferred. Valid driver's license, required. Experience driving a large company van or truck preferred. Clean driving record with no moving violations. Must pass background check and drug test. Skilled and confident driver. Comfortable maneuvering and parking a large vehicle. Alert, focused, and detail-oriented. Physically and mentally fit. Ability to life up to 50 lbs. at a time. Experience using hand trucks and electric lifts. Proficient using GPS and other routing systems. Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful. Excellent customer service skills. Strong verbal communicator .
