Position Description:
The AMETEK Hughes-Treitler (AHT) Business Unit, part of the Thermal Management Systems Division within the Aerospace & Defense business group, designs and manufactures state of the art plate-fin heat exchangers, cold plates, condensers, evaporators, and other heat transfer products.

We are currently seeking an experienced hard-working and highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to support our manufacturing operations in Garden City, NY. This position will be able to drive change and process improvements to increase our manufacturing capacity so that we can meet customer demand.

In this hands-on position, the Manufacturing Engineer will plan and design product applications and machinery. The position is responsible for organizing highly complex activities for design, development, implementation, and maintenance of heat exchanger manufacturing processes.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Analyze process and products to identify root causes of quality defects using lean and Six Sigma methodologies and tools.
Develop and apply continuous improvements to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness. Use statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, work instructions, and processing methods.
Design, install, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.
Design testing methods and test finished products or process capabilities to establish standards or validate process requirements.
Design layout of equipment or workspaces to achieve maximum efficiency.
Review product designs for manufacturability or completeness; including purchasing equipment, materials, or parts and preparing documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures.
Evaluate manufactured products according to specifications and quality standards, including troubleshooting new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes
Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing and engage with manufacturing operators and other functions.
Develop, document and implement standard work instructions for critical manufacturing operations.


Position Requirements:
Education and/or Experience
Bachelors degree in Engineering
3-5 years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering.
Experience in metal fabrication, welding and/or brazing of pressure containing products preferred.
Experience in a highly regulated industry, such as, Military, Aerospace, Nuclear or Automotive or other similar preferred
Experience in Lean, Six Sigma or process improvements
Due to ITAR Restrictions, an export license may be required.
