Touro College Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Hawthorne, New York

The individual in this position will be responsible for treating a growing student population in our medical, dental, and graduate degree programs. Our team plays an integral role in student success and is focused on providing mental health and wellness support in pursuit of overall student wellbeing.

  • Delivering comprehensive, short term individual therapy, initial assessment, group therapy, crisis intervention, clinical consultation, and liaison with outreach programs.

  • Collaborating with other members of the team to develop informational activities and workshops for the community-at-large on wellness and mental health topics.

  • Developing positive working relationships that includes routine and regular communication with community referral sources.

  • Providing consultation to members of the NYMC community as needed and as appropriate, including but not limited to, senior management deans, student affairs, medical education, academic support personnel, academic professors, course coordinators, faculty etc. and/or serving as a liaison to the same etc.

  • Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, faculty, and staff.

  • Participating in wellness programming, planning, implementation and tracking success of activities.

  • Contributing as a member of the Student Mental Health & Wellness team.

  • Participating in on-call rotation for emergency and crisis situations that requires available expertise for student emergencies.

  • Maintaining appropriate clinical documentation in the electronic health record.

  • Working collaboratively with diverse teams across the NYMC campus to support student mental health programming and services.

  • Attending staff and professional development opportunities.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Mental Health and Wellness.

(B) Education Requirement:

  • Doctorate or Masters degree from an accredited program in Social Work.

(C) Licenses or certifications:

  • Eligibility and/or licensure as a Clinical Social Worker in New York State.

(D) Other Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Well-organized and detail oriented.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and experience working with issues related to gender, culture, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disabilities, socio-economic status, etc. and skilled with techniques for counseling students from diverse backgrounds.

(E) Prior experience:

  • 3-5 years of clinical experience post licensure.

  • Experience with student population in an academic health center preferred.
