SUMMARY : Repair, adjust or install all types of electric or gas appliances, such as refrigerators, ovens, and coolers. Perform skilled work in the installation, operation, maintenance and/or repair gas and electrical cooking, baking appliances, food preparation appliances, ware wash equipment and bakery food machines. Repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment – servicing, repairing, adjusting and testing machines, devices, moving parts and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical (not electronic) principles.


  • Exhibits a friendly, helpful and courteous manner when dealing with our guests and fellow associates.

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.

  • Perform broad range of maintenance and repair duties with appliance and equipment.

  • Operate all appliances and train staff in the use and general maintenance of appliances and equipment.

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and perform repairs in addition to reprogramming the electronics and controls of the appliances and equipment through the schematic plans by management and by computer related software as necessary and appropriate.

  • Have good leadership to instruct in performing routine maintenance of appliances and equipment.

  • Enter data that is related to preventative maintenance.

  • Comply with all safety and SOP regulations.

  • Comply with general maintenance of the work area.

  • Provide repair cost estimates and recommend whether appliance repair or replacement is better choice.

  • Replace worn and defective parts such as switches, bearings, transmissions, belts, gears, circuit boards or defective wiring.

  • Disassemble appliances so that problems can be diagnosed and repairs can be made.

  • Observe and examine appliances during operation to detect specific malfunctions such as loose parts or leaking fluid.

  • Trace electrical circuits, follow diagrams, and conduct tests with circuit testers and other equipment to locate shorts and grounds.

  • Talk to customers or refer to work orders in order to establish the nature of appliance malfunctions.

  • Refer to schematic drawings, product manuals, and troubleshooting guides in order to diagnose and repair problems.

  • Maintain stocks of parts used in on-site installation, maintenance and repair of appliances.

  • Instruct customers regarding operation and care of appliances and provide information such as emergency service numbers.

  • Reassemble units after repairs are made, making adjustments and cleaning and lubricating parts as needed.

  • Clean and reinstall parts.

  • Record maintenance and repair work performed on appliances.

  • Clean, lubricate and touch up minor defects on newly installed or repaired appliances.

  • Service and repair domestic electrical and/or gas appliances such as refrigerators, stoves and ovens.

  • Assemble new or reconditioned appliances.

  • Observe and test operation of appliances following installation and make any initial installation adjustments that are necessary.

  • Level refrigerators, adjust doors and connect water lines to water pipes for ice makers and water dispensers, using appropriate tools.

  • Requires a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.

  • Requires being reliable and dependable and fulfilling obligations.

  • Accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations.

  • Working with little or no supervision to get the work order done in a timely manner.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE : Minimum High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and 2 years work experience.


  • Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.

  • Equipment maintenance – performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

  • Troubleshooting – determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.

  • Quality control analysis – conducting tests and inspections of products, services or processes to evaluate quality or performance.

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to quests, clients, and other associates of the organization.

  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

  • REASONING ABILITY : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must obtain and maintain a New York State certification and St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Gaming Class III License which requires a criminal background check to be used solely for employment purposes. Successful candidates for employment must submit to and pass a drug test for illegal substances prior to employment being confirmed. In case of a positive result, the candidate is not eligible for employment with the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort. Employment will not begin until process is complete.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.     WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. The position exists in a casino work environment where there is occasional exposure of the associate to noise and cigarette smoke from the casino floor. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The associate is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
