Zebra Technologies Advanced Customer Engagement Systems Engineer in Holtsville, New York

Overview

The Customer Engagement (CE) Systems Engineers (SEs) in Zebra will provide technical leadership in the development of mobile computing Platform: Hardware, Software, and Solutions.

They will use technology, market, and customer trends to specify and develop new features and product concepts. They will be front facing to the customers to identify areas improvement, gaps in requirements, help define user stories and use cases. Additionally, they will lead architectural analysis of the customer implemented solutions and will coordinate feasibility studies and design tradeoffs among the Engineering, Product Management and Program Management stakeholders.

The Customer engagement SEs will be responsible for capturing/supporting the solution, system, and product requirements from a customer perspective, the main focus will be onsite customer support, for monitoring their verification, and for assurance of overall solution reliability and quality.

The Customer engagement (CE) SE’s other responsibility is working with customer account teams in early engagements to capture customer needs and answer key questions to facilitate a seamless transition from customers’ needs to customer requirements. This part of the engagement process is essential to supporting Zebra grow the business.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with Portfolio Management, Product Management and Customers in defining the Use Cases, the Device and Solution implementations; this will include participation in Customer site visits

  • Work closely with the Product Management team and with the Solutions Architecture team to refine Use Cases using structured methodologies and capturing them in an engineering database tool (Siemens, Polarion)

  • Actively participate in the sales cycle by working closely with Field account teams and CE program management in supporting beta, light house customers and/or partners, in trials /bake offs.

  • Support Product System Engineering in developing and/or supporting the creation of User Stories and Use Cases.

  • Application of Agile development methodologies in both Hardware and Solution development

  • Understanding, supporting, and developing Android OS architecture

  • Understanding, supporting, and developing Android software

  • Ability to travel and managing technical solutions in the field

  • Providing overall technical leadership across Electrical, RF, Mechanical, and Software Engineering functions driving, or participating or supporting Product Requirements Specifications

  • System Level architecture for the product family, including defining the hardware and software feature requirements

  • Operating Systems considerations / capabilities

  • Competitive Benchmarking

  • Compatibility and Interoperability

  • Master Verification Plans

  • Program schedules

  • Technical issues and risks management

  • Supporting validation of Customer-Facing Attributes (CFAs) and Critical Parameter (CP) Testing based on customer interactions for specific products.

  • Defect and Issue Management Tracking using Atlassian, JIRA

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree – Engineering discipline and 5 plus years of experience

  • 2 plus years hands on experience with Android Development

  • 3 plus years leading cross-functional product development teams

  • Interpersonal skills

  • Skilled at presenting to key stakeholders, field organization, customers

  • Collaborative

  • Preferred Master’s degree and 4 plus years’ experience

  • Wireless and Mobile computing applications

  • Working knowledge of enterprise mobile device architecture
