The test engineer will be working with the R&D team on the characterization of semiconductor lasers and conduct a variety of different measurements. A successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the measurement setups and add to their current functionality. The position will be part of our engineering and design group, making analyzing, reporting, and presenting acquired data part of the duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct device based opto-electronic measurements on semiconductor laser diodes for R&D.
Laser diode light, current, voltage characterization
Measurements of direct modulated lasers at frequencies from 1GHz to >25GHz
Characterization of laser noise performance and related parameters
Conduct wafer-based measurements on automated wafer test stations and release wafers
Perform and create test-IDs
Receiving / shipping of wafers
Generate test reports
Maintain and re-calibrate test stations
Troubleshoot problems with mechanical, electrical, and optical sub-systems.
Improve optical setups
Software improvements and equipment upgrades to be implemented
New measurement functionality may be needed which requires additional engineering and assembly tasks.
Ordering /receiving spare parts.
BS/MS degree in Engineering preferably in electro-mechanical, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
Candidate needs to be proficient in the use and functionality of high-speed measurement equipment, such as Network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, pattern generators, oscilloscopes, source meters.
Other Special Skills:
Familiarity with optical high-speed equipment.
Experience with optical fiber, fiber connectors, optics, and electro-optics like lasers and photodiodes.
Mechanical assembly skills and basic CAD skills
Software knowledge such as C, Python, NI LabView, or similar high-level languages.
General knowledge of MS Windows operating systems and computer networking.
Microsoft Office and other software applications like mechanical drawing, circuit design
SQL or similar for database interactions.
