Blackstone Advanced Technologies Assembler & Painter in Jamestown, New York

FT: Jamestown, Assembler & Painter RESPONSIBILITIES Review work orders and paint specs to ensure an awareness of job requirements Apply protective coatings to large industrial structures Use PPE and maintain required hygiene for respirator Obtain and mix paint ingredients in accordance with manufacturer's specs to ensure paint is the proper consistency Spray units by hand to ensure proper paint application, as needed Continuously inspect painted parts or unites to ensure proper coating application, make spray gun adjustments as needed Clean, mask, and sand units in preparation for paints Unmask units, clean and load spare parts on units after dryer process is completed. Maintain clean and organized equipment and paint booth (i.e. sprayer equipment, and application tools-brushes); Advise filter replacements Assist in identifying welds and excessive splatter to repair Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists, gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials. Assembles components by fastening parts and subassemblies. Verifies specifications by measuring completed component. Resolves assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources. Documents actions by completing production and quality forms. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Perform routine preventative maintenance and any trouble shooting required. Inspect parts for inaccuracies or complications and discuss any issues with supervisor or manufacturing engineer. Responsible for handling material at work station and maintaining a clean working station. Knowledge on how to use hand tools, rivet gun, drill etc. Assist in daily paint department startup of bonderizer and help with bonderizer chemical order, communicate with supervisor Help in shipping department when needed Ability to read and interpret blue prints. All other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Associates must be able to successfully work independently and also as a team member. A good attendance history (reliability) and a demonstrated ability to learn new concepts and skills is a must. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Must have a positive attitude and willingness to learn. Ability to read blueprints, use calipers, protractors and machinist squares is a must; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
