Description

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Food Services Kitchen Assistant is responsible for assembling / packaging meals for the Senior Mobile Meals Program and assisting in the training of interns in the food service program.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Program Operations

  • Maintain and supervise the operation of kitchen equipment and machinery

  • Ensure all side items and cool food bags are completed on a daily basis according to daily instructions

  • Collaborate with the Food Services Director and the Program Coordinator with the production numbers for sites and meal delivery

  • Responsible for the sanitation of the kitchen and food prep area as well as training interns in accepted sanitation procedures

  • Responsible for closing procedures on a daily basis

     

    Health, Safety, & Compliance

  • Be familiar with the Health and Safety Accident Prevention Program and abide by all health and safety rules, work practices, and regulations

  • Maintain a work environment in a clean, organized, and safe manner. Conduct daily inspections of work areas to look for unsafe conditions

  • Ensure all accidents are reported to supervisor and Human Resources, thoroughly investigated, and properly documented. Investigate near-miss incidents to determine root cause to promote accident prevention

  • Maintain practices to ensure Health and Safety compliance.

  • Use all required safety devices and personal protective equipment.

  • Train interns on all safe operating procedures and on the use of personal protective equipment

     

    Agency Standards

  • Demonstrate positive work attitudes and habits. Act as a role model for vocational success for trainees/interns

  • Maintain a clean and neat appearance consistent with food service standards and act as a role model

  • Attend all required meetings and trainings

  • Participate in training programs for professional growth as scheduled and approved

  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to Gateway Hudson Valleys Corporate Compliance Policy and Standards of Conduct as well as all applicable program rules, regulations and policies. Keep abreast of any changes or modifications to policies or regulations. Ensure that all staff are knowledgeable of applicable regulations, laws, and policies

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education:

  • High School diploma

     

    Experience:

  • Minimum one year experience in commercial food services

     

    Licenses / Certifications:

  • First Aid & CPR certified

     

    BONA FIDE WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to lift up to 60lbs

  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop and bend

  • Must be able to sit or stand for 8 hours per day

     

    REGULATORY CLEARANCES REQUIRED:

    Must have a favorable result from all state, federal, and agency mandated background checks
