Job Description

  1. Strategic Planning
  • Initiates and develops strategic plans, policies and procedures for resource stewardship across the Health System.

  • Identifies and develops new business initiatives for resource stewardship consistent with the mission and strategic direction of the Health System.

  • Establishes and measure s resource stewardship organizational performance against strategic goals and objectives to ensure leading-edge services are provided.

  1. Financial Management
  • Reviews, authorizes and prioritizes financial and capital expenditures by assessing profitability, alignment with business objectives and budget parameters.

  • Provides financial and administrative oversight and problem resolution guidance.

  • Develops and oversees operational, personnel and capital budgets.

  1. Business Operations
  • Partners with the SVP Chief Procurement Officer, VP Chief Pharmacy Officer and VP Biomedical Services as well as key clinical and operations leadership to architect and drive a comprehensive change management program aimed at establishing a continuous focus on resource stewardship across the Health System.

  • Ensures resource stewardship improves quality through reducing unwarranted variation, financial savings, reduced waste, improved efficiency, and incremental margin.

  • Ensures resource stewardship financial benefits ultimately manifest in contracting savings achieved in collaboration with and through the efforts of the SVP Chief Procurement Officer and team.

  • Ensures resource stewardship includes all categories of non-labor spend including areas where resource management organization is not 'directly' responsible (i.e. with full decision rights) for that category.

  • Ensures all forms of non-labor cost are being managed in a way that delivers high quality and cost effectiveness while providing equitable clinical care. Inherent in this responsibility is the need to balance the dual responsibility of achieving financial savings and/or avoiding cost inflation while maintaining the Health System's high standards of care.

  • Ensures resource stewardship has the appropriate structure, diverse talent, and resources to deliver best practice performance that includes development of an inclusive, cooperative, consensus-building, decision-making process.

  • Monitors and evaluates the impact of industry trends on the area's current business performance and competitive outlook.

  • Ensures active communication with all external and internal constituencies to establish strong relationships that are complimentary and consistent with Health System's goals and strategic needs.

  • Conducts cost benefit feasibility studies to determine the viability of new product lines or business initiatives.

  1. Information Management
  • Reviews and directs the planning, design, implementation and support of information systems, networks, and applications to support optimal operations.
  1. Organizational Governance
  • Upholds and communicates the mission, vision and values of the Health System.
  1. Compliance Management
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, tax laws, and regulatory agency standards of compliance and Health System's Corporate Compliance Program.

  • Keeps abreast of federal regulations, congressional actions and deliberations, and state and local activities.

  • Ensures compliance to established disaster response and recovery plans to ensure patient safety and business continuity.

  1. Human Resources Management
  • Develops and oversees implementation of current and long-term Human Resources goals and objectives for organizational development, recruiting, compensation, employee relations and, training and development.

  • Oversees protocols to promote employee engagement, excellence and opportunity.

  • Works to create a culture of integrity, quality and engagement to meet Health System mission and goals.

  • Selects, develops, manages and evaluates team of direct reports and oversees the development, management and evaluation of indirect reports.

  1. Patient Care Systems
  • Advances a patient-centered approach to care focusing on resource stewardship equitable quality and efficiencies.
  1. Quality Management
  • Promotes quality and productivity improvements through involvement in the development of improved procedures, process innovations and changes which support the strategic direction.
  1. Business Development
  • Develops relationships with outside consultants and industry associations to ensure quality improvement process retains validity and maintains the latest techniques and concepts. Keeps executive leadership and stakeholders well informed.
  1. Research
  • Oversees the assessment of services and development of new programs and research projects to ensure future organizational growth and prosperity.

  • Reviews comprehensives of the area of business on an on-going basis and develops strategies for program adaptation to market changes.

  1. Performs related duties, as required.

*ADA Essential Functions

  • Master's Degree inBusiness Administration,Healthcare Administration or related field, required.

Minimum of ten (10) years progressively responsible senior management experience in a related field, required.
