JPMorgan Chase Design Strategy Director in New York, New York

Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating an aligned approach across product teams, lines of businesses, and leadership to ensure consistency and cohesion of Chase experiences in every channel

  • Monitoring and driving a multi-disciplinary team of strategists, designers, technologists and business experts and effectively connecting experts as needed while ensuring the utilization of the best and latest methods and tools in order to be competitive in the industry

  • Managing, prioritizing and delivering multiple strategic initiatives on time and on target with clear success metrics

  • Guiding the creation of instant tangibility for stakegholders through storytelling and rapid prototyping methods, ranging from paper sketching to digital prototyping

  • Socializing and garnering support for recommendations that have direct impact on product roadmaps and organizational composition

  • Leading the response to patterns identified across CX metrics and assessments, related explicitly to Design Strategy aligned work and define a strategy for the complete life cycle of a digital product, from vision and conception to launch and optimization.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships and build trust among stakeholders and persuasively present and defend your own strategic thinking and synthesis

  • Developing a team of inspired and empowered design strategists at an individualized level that reflects their unique ambitions, skills and growth areas

  • Removing obstacles that interfere with your teams' progress by ensuring proper resourcing across initiatives and tactfully resolving conflicts as they arise

  • Scaling the Design Strategy approach across the organization by modeling design led product innovation, designing across complex systems, and establishing Futurism practices at Chase


  • 8+ years of experience with user experience, service design, design thinking, design research or related field

  • 3+ years of demonstrated success in leading, managing, growing and hiring cross functional teams

  • BFA or BA in related field

  • Experience in using a diverse set of methods & tools drawn from different functions, including (not limited to) Behavioral Design, Futurism, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Service Design, Data Visualization, Strategy, Psychology, Ethnography, Human Centered Design, Systems Thinking

  • Ability to synthesize complex, interdependent, and sometimes competing needs

  • Ability to balance hands on engagement with strategic guidance for working team

  • Be driven to positively influence the lives of our users beyond what is asked for within the company

  • Have a proven record of successfully influencing and evolving complex project/corporate cultures

  • Flexibility/adaptability (ability to change direction based upon team and stakeholder consensus)

  • Team work: Develops and sustains effective and cooperative working relationships with direct reports, peers, managers and other internal or external stakeholders

  • Impeccable interpersonal and people management skills

  • Actively listens, hears and understands what is said and not said, and with nuanced comprehension of meaning and intent

  • Awareness and practical understanding of current technologies and their application and relevance to digital experiences

  • Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, team-oriented, cross-functional environment
