Social Native Director of Engineering in New York, New York

With the recent acquisition of Olapic, we’re changing the way marketers evaluate, refine and optimize their visual content strategy. This move solidifies our goal of delivering an all-in-one platform providing brands with data-driven insights, scales content creation, measures the impact of their work, and optimizes content for even greater results.
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Engineering, the Director of Engineering – will direct engineering activities for Social Native’s multi-platform UGC and AI product offerings. Primary focus is on both providing strategic direction, as well as tactical execution for engineering in the areas of project management, application design, development, test and deployment. Key to the job is the coordination with the VP of Engineering and the VP of Product Development, and other Engineering and non-Engineering management members on systems planning, development, maintenance and implementation. Experience in a variety of technologies including AWS and Framework (Angular/React) development experience is required. Experience in formal development methodologies is also a requirement.
Manages the day-to-day tasks of the Social Native’s Engineering team members.
Provides tactical direction to Engineering staff.
Actively participates in cross functional project planning and coordination with Product Management, Marketing, CRM, CS, Sales, etc.
Manages Creator Content Engineering to the strategic plans in order to ensure that Social Native is positioned to:
Seize new opportunities,
Maintain a superior financial position and
Provide exceptional service to its customers.
Works to ensure “on time” and “on budget” delivery of projects and applications.
Manages the Engineering team to establish and deliver to a set timetable for the deployment of technologies, including applications, within the Company.
Coordinates VP Engineering and VP of Product Development leaders to evaluate new technologies, architectures and services.
Assists in the evaluation of technologies and companies in concert with the Company’s M&A activities.
Communicates regularly with Engineering and Product management on the status of resources and systems.
Develops and implements best practices for Engineering processes related to requirements, design, coding, testing, QA, deployment and project management.
Work closely with Product Management to ensure that applications are developed in a timely manner, on budget, with required functionality and high quality
Job Requirements and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline is a minimum. Advanced degree preferred.
Previous experience in Web Application software development in a SaaS environment
10 to 15 years of progressive growth in Leadership and Management experience in commercial software development
Minimum of 3 years of architecture experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in developing large commercial web-based applications
Experience in cross platform user interface design
Experience with SaaS design
Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of web development technologies: AWS, React, Angular, Node.js, Kubernetes, Database Technologies
Knowledge of cloud-based and SaaS-based application delivery models
Understanding of internationalization requirements and limitations
Proven leadership and collaboration skills
Excellent writing and speaking skills
Self-starter/Able to take initiative in difficult situations
Business and fiscal knowledge
Technical skills at a senior level of expertise
