ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide frontline support by resolving customers' problems and issues through technical expertise and troubleshooting.
Contribute to service revenue sales targets while ensuring strong customer contract retention rate and warranty conversion rate.
Use critical thinking to resolve issues within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action to rapidly repair instrumentation.
Provide training to our customers and verify the operational performance and data quality of systems in order to contribute to our overall team success.
FSE’s may operate independently within their geographic territory, however Cepheid fosters a team based environment with opportunities to benchmark, mentor and receive expert technical support.
Travel throughout a designated service region on short notice to support the company's products and field service partners.
An essential function of this position is the ability to pass vendor credentialing requirements imposed by assigned customers, which can include, by way of example only, periodic background checks and drug screening, immunizations, and training, and may vary by customer and change from time-to-time. The Company pays the cost for any such vendor credentialing requirements.
TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES: (REQUIRED)
- Complete all assigned and required training satisfactorily and on time
Education and Experience (in years):
High School degree with 4-6 years of related work experience -or-
AA or Technical Trade Degree in Electronics or Engineering (or related discipline) or the equivalent experience is required with 2-4 years of related work experience -or-
Medical Technologist with 2-4 years of laboratory experience
Knowledge and skills:
Proficient level of computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical issues in an easy to understand manner.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, self-directed, entrepreneurial environment.
Resourceful, with the ability to work independently.
Time management skills.
Ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
Decision-making, problem resolution and creative thinking skills.
Attention to detail
Work with customers and vendors at both a business and technical level.
Conduct presentations of technical information concerning specific projects or schedules.
Proficient in computer hardware and software repair.
Configure network devices and interface Cepheid product to local networks.
Multi-task and prioritize events and maintain composure under high levels of demand.
Possess excellent systematic troubleshooting skills utilizing a structured and comprehensive process to determine the root cause and implement corrective action.
Proficient in reporting activities; maintaining local spare parts, inventory recording, and documenting travel expenses.
Able to travel on short notice with periodic overnight stays.
Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs. to a height of 5 feet
