Citigroup Global Regulatory Engagement Lead in New York, New York

The Global Regulatory Engagement Lead will be focused on the OCC and FDIC engagements and will be part of Citi’s Global Regulatory Engagement team, reporting directly to the Global OCC and FDIC Regulatory Engagement Senior Lead.

Citi’s Global Regulatory Engagement Team is responsible for the engagement strategy and execution, regulatory exam management and oversight, and regulatory strategy and policy across all of Citi’s prudential regulators.

The Dedicated OCC & FDIC Regulatory Engagement Lead will support the Global OCC and FDIC Regulatory Engagement Senior Lead in coordinating and executing the overall OCC and FDIC relationship coverage strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the day-to-day functioning of the FDIC Engagement, supporting initiatives across the OCC Engagement, and creating and strengthening relationships with the OCC & FDIC

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with individual OCC & FDIC examiners and teams to ensure strong trust-based working communications

  • Support the development and implementation of the OCC & FDIC engagement strategy in coordination with the Global OCC and FDIC Regulatory Engagement Senior Lead and the broader Global Regulatory Engagement Team

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Business & Function Regulatory Engagement teams

  • Coordinate with the Regulatory Exam Management Utility supporting all key OCC & FDIC regulatory exams enterprise-wide

  • Support ongoing OCC, FDIC and internal dialogue

  • Support the coordination of the overall OCC & FDIC relationship coverage and end-to-end execution and critical information flows between Citi and the OCC and the FDIC, advising key leaders accordingly

  • Keep fully abreast of the execution and closure of OCC-specific and FDIC-specific issues and outstanding deliverables, seeking regular feedback from OCC & FDIC and working in close partnership with the first line, the second line and transformation leaders

  • Coordinate with broader Global Regulatory Engagement team and regional Regulatory Engagement Leads on OCC & FDIC priorities, and keep abreast of the priorities of other regulatory bodies globally which may be relevant to the OCC and/or the FDIC

  • Understanding evolving regulatory requirements and expectations

  • Leverage OCC & FDIC relationships and interactions to develop a comprehensive and timely understanding of emerging changes in supervisory focus and expectations

  • Build network with external peers to gather and share intelligence on evolving supervisory focus, intent and expectations

  • Work with Regulatory Policy, Strategy and Engagement Lead to identify OCC & FDIC developments and analyze implications for Citi

  • Supporting timely regulatory responses and remediations

  • Stay fully and personally abreast of all incoming and outgoing OCC & FDIC requests, reports and other correspondence across Citi to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory dialogue

  • Support and challenge Citi’s response letters to the OCC & FDIC to ensure the letter and spirit of the regulatory feedback are addressed

  • Provide detailed and actionable input to refine the structure, substance and wording of (complex) regulatory submissions

  • Support review and challenge of critical change programs to assess whether remediation efforts fully address OCC & FDIC commitments and expectations

Qualifications:

  • Broad, and deep experience in regulatory supervision or relations or in a role requiring deep regulatory understanding

  • Specific subject matter expertise regarding regulatory disciplines and a strong business understanding of the products and services Citi offers

  • Understanding of relevant banking regulation and supervisory expectations for large complex financial institutions

  • Track record of managing senior client or regulatory relationships and regulatory remediation programs at peer institution

  • Well-developed listening skills and a strong ability to provide proactive support and advice on a variety of regulatory matters

  • Superior oral and written communication skills, and in particular, the ability to assess and contribute to the content of large regulatory submissions

  • Strong interpersonal skills for interfacing with all levels within the organization, including effective influencing skills, a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating issues/requests

  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record in driving positive and sustained change

  • High-energy with a proactive, positive, can-do attitude

  • Growth mindset, seeking and implementing feedback and maintaining flexibility to pivot and course correct as needed
