Purpose of Position:

Implement and manage all day-to-day quality assurance measures within the Department of Radiology. Under the Associate Director's direction, they may establish goals, specific procedures and support the management of all required quality assurance programs.

Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Reviews work schedules and assign duties to maintain patient flow and achieve production goals.

  • Assists with imaging equipment, such as x-ray machine, fluoroscope, CT scanner, or MRI equipment, evaluates accuracy and quality of images and provides technical assistance.

  • Implements and monitors radiation safety measures to ensure patients' and staff's safety and compliance with government regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinates purchase of supplies and equipment and makes recommendations concerning Department operating budget.

  • Assists with the development and maintenance of Diagnostic Imaging procedures to include procedure manuals, quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing.

  • Adheres and conforms to all hospital and departmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.

  • Monitors radiographic quality of exams performed by all staff technologists.

  • Advises staff technologist of corrective technical practices.

  • Conducts and records periodic testing of lead shield devices (aprons, gloves, and gonadal shields).

  • Performs periodic quality control testing of equipment.

  • Conducts and records evaluations of equipment integrity before and after preventative maintenances are performed.

  • Reports arrangement for equipment correction of any deficiencies found to Radiology Administration.

  • Participates in quality control procedures and quality assurance.

  • Acts as a liaison during inspection activities.

  • Tracks patient radiation exposure and provides alerts for QA directed occurrences that exceed accepted reference levels.

  • Identifies problems and communicates to the immediate supervisor; offers appropriate solutions.

  • Demonstrates complete working knowledge of all equipment within the Department, orders, and restocks inventory, as needed in accordance with Quality Assurance needs for the Department.

  • Prepares daily work log as required.

  • Adheres to the departmental attendance policy.

  • Participates in identified professional organizations, external meetings and seminars, and in-service activities as required to maintain professional acumen.

  • All other duties as required by the Department.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Valid and current license as a Radiologic Technologist as indicated by the NYS Department of Health

  • Valid and current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Quality Assurance Technologist.

  • Advance registry in CT and /or MRI preferred

  • Must be able to lift or move 50 pounds without assistance.

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Current NYC State license and registration as a Radiological Technologist.

  • Proficient in Hospital EMR and PACS

  • Proficient in all areas of general Radiologic Technology, including Fluoroscopy imaging.

Completion of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology

  • Qualification Requirements:
