Weill Cornell Medical College Medical Records Assistant in New York, New York
Under direct supervision, prepares specialized reports and letters for mail-out to patients, referring physicians and secondary providers as per patient requests
If applicable, ensures that patients provide any pre-visit documentation, pre-certifications or authorizations for medical services as needed, and/or a referral, if required.
Answers phones, responds to inquiries and triages calls to appropriate personnel.
Monitors requests received for reports and ensures associates exam reasons and codes are inputted into the practice management system.
Prepares specialized reports and letters for mail-out to referring physicians and secondary providers as per patient requests. Ensures correct information is collated and sent to the correct provider. Reviews follow-up care letters for accuracy.
Monitors the report completion status within the practice management system. Identifies errors and escalates for resolution.
Maintains and updates list of referring physicians including their preference for mode of receipt.
Prepares materials for messenger delivery on an as-needed basis. Ensures scheduled delivery rounds are completed on a timely basis. Coordinates outside delivery services as needed.
Confirms patient appointments as needed.
Scans patient-related material into the electronic medical record system.
Assists with gathering, processing and preparing charts/documentation needed prior to patient appointments or as part of follow-up.
Monitors inventory of office supplies.
- High school diploma or GED
Some related work experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience in an office setting and/or doctorÂs office or hospital setting is preferred.
