Family Nurse Practitioner
Full-Time (Tuesday-Saturday)
JOB SUMMARY
Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) NPs are committed to personalized, high-quality healthcare and are held to the same legal and ethical standards of care as physicians and surgeons. Autonomously and in collaboration with healthcare professionals and other individuals, the FNP provides a full range or primary, acute, and specialty healthcare services including:
Diagnosing and treating acute sports related musculoskeletal injuries including, but not limited to:
Strains, sprains, minor dislocations and closed fractures
Painful, swollen or injured joints of the ankle, back, elbow, foot, hand, hip, knee, neck, and shoulder
Pediatric injuries
Sports Injuries
Suturing
This position is based in Manhattan and requires floating to HSS Regional Sites on Saturdays.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Family Nurse Practitioner
Requirements:
Obtains/Maintains both FNP and RN licenses in New York State
Master's in Nursing required, Doctorate of Nursing preferred
Obtain/Maintain National board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) from an agency accredited by the American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS) (e.g. ANCC, AANP)
A Minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing FNP required with experience in sports medicine and/or emergency medicine experience preferred
Experience with injections, aspirations, and casting required
BLS/ACLS required
Experience with electronic health record (EPIC) preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong customer service orientation.
Critical thinking, in-depth experience, professional knowledge in area of specialty; updated on the latest new, trends, and treatments. Time management/organization: handles and effectively manages a daily caseload; experience with varied work schedule (flexibility); adaptable
Collaboration and teamwork: utilizes clinical colleagues (MDs, PAs, NPs, RNs) for advisement when necessary; develops and coordinates appropriate plan of care.
Interpersonal: confident, works well under pressure, responsible, caring, sympathetic and compassionate
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Maintains proper patient records
Utilizes evidence-based practice
Committed to best practices; maintains clinical competency
Promotes quality healthcare; seeks to improve and impact clinical outcomes
Engaged in self-directed continued learning and professional development
Leads and participates in both professional and lay healthcare forums, conducts research, and applies findings to clinical practice
