Backstop is a Chicago based Fintech company that makes the industry-leading, cloud-based productivity suite for alternative investments and the people who invest in them.

Backstop’s User Experience Design team is a diverse group of designers who are creating products for people at work. We empower our clients by designing improved process workflows and collaboration, data entry, data visualization and reporting. We believe in designing solutions that drive our client’s success while making them enthusiastic fans of our platform.

As a Product Designer with Backstop you will be an integral part of the entire product design and development process, helping to connect across disciplines, such as Design, Product, Engineering, and Marketing.?You will collaborate?closely with the Design Team, Product Managers and Engineers, from research and ideation through design, delivery and iteration.

Responsibilities

  • Create and delivering impactful and engaging experiences while demonstrating mastery of UX and product design skills such as design and user research, Design Thinking, ideation, wire framing, information architecture, low fidelity to high fidelity designs, design prototypes, design reviews, specifications and handoff as well as experience with design components and design systems. visual hierarchy, layout, typography and palette development.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the company and partner with our clients to research workflows and iterate on impactful solutions designs and experiences.

  • Support developers through the development, QA and launch process and solution for problems that may arise during the execution of the product’s design.

  • Work quickly and effectively on multiple projects varying from solutioning designing for new features, addressing enhancement on existing features, as well as attending to bugs and fixes.

  • Creating accessibility-focused design. You have a working knowledge on Section 508, WCAG 2.1 Guidelines, Success Criteria Level AA, to ensure the implementation of accessible solutions.

  • Create deliverables?from initial concepts?expressed as?wireframes?and prototypes?to design specifications?for?final development.?

  • Maintain, and help create design specifications that will be used to build products and help contribute and help maintain to Backstop’s design system.

  • Contribute to the team and design culture at Backstop by collaborating, reviewing and supporting design team members

  • Create deliverables?from initial concepts?expressed as?wireframes?and prototypes?to design specifications?for?final development.?

  • You know how to scope time and effort involved in design projects. You are able to work within a highly collaborative environment to estimate and negotiate the user experience that is defined on the scope or product vision.

  • You can articulate a vision and evangelize the value of design to the broader business through knowledge sharing sessions, workshops, and other activities.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience

  • Portfolio with a history of impactful projects designs delivered and released to users that showcase your design skills and process process

  • Strong UX, interaction, component and visual design skills

  • Human User-centric approach to designing products

  • Mastery use and knowledge of Figma and Figma plugins

  • Experience with helping set product strategy and skills with design planning and prioritization, through methods like design sprints, quarterly and or yearly planning, and use with JIRA and team brainstorms

  • Conceptual understanding of popular front-end frameworks like Angular and React
