About the Team

The State and District Data Exchange and Implementation team is a team of highly motivated, initiative-taking and engaged technologists responsible for implementing technical and data solutions to meet committed contractual obligations and prioritized state business requirements. The capabilities delivered by this team are largely focused on supporting states, districts, and schools in all aspects of the test administration process, to include pre-administration and post administration operational and data processes.

We are constantly seeking out, experimenting, and harnessing innovative technologies to build easy-to-use user interfaces and highly scalable, performant, fault-tolerant data processing systems. We strive to alleviate operational pain points and manual efforts across core process areas while meeting 100% of the contractual deliverables. We collaborate with our States and Districts, cross-functional teams within College Board, and vendor partners to cleanly deliver the SAT suite of assessments to millions of students across the United States and provide valuable and timely data to contribute to state and federal accountability determinations and inform decisions.

In this role, you will:

Team Management (40%)

  • Set top-level goals, objectives, and success metrics while coordinating work between cross-functional teams
  • Effectively manage, develop and retain key talent to ensure they are engaged and working effectively toward accomplishing goals
  • Facilitate process improvement efforts that increase efficiency and drive successful outcomes
  • Nurture a culture of user empathy and deep curiosity that enables us to build simple, intuitive products for our customers

Design & Implementation (40%)

  • Lead cross-product initiatives to build a quality set of applications and data systems that are user friendly, in alignment with business requirements, resilient to failure, support huge scale, and are highly cost effective
  • Participate and be vocal in agile ceremonies to ensure success criteria are met
  • Identify best practices for efficient operations of production facing systems and build a feature backlog to support this
  • Drive efforts to deliver best-in-class tooling for building, deploying, and validating applications
  • Advocate for consistent design processes, methods, core systems, and patterns
  • Self-manage workload and obtain necessary requirements and acceptance criteria needed to complete work
  • Develop feedback mechanisms with internal and external constituents to drive operational efficiencies
  • Develop and maintain technical expertise across key technologies and frameworks

Team Operations & Success (20%)

  • Partner with Engineers and Engineer Managers across technology, building sustainable technical contacts to align on strategic and tactical outcomesthat look out for the good of system versus what might be easiest for a sole product
  • Negotiate with internal College Board stakeholders across all programs and products to ensure alignment with the overarching mission and objectives of the State and District teams
  • Control spend by identifying high costs, documenting features to address them, and partnering with Product Leads(s) to implement
  • Foster a close collaboration between the technology teams, facilitating technical discussions to meet goals and advance efforts while removing barriers to success
  • Work with engineering, architecture and data leads to eliminating critical single points of failure across our operations

About You

You have:

8+ years\' experience in technology, with at least 4 years directly managing or leading the technical solutions for a team overseeing large data initiatives\<
