This position handles crew calling to arrange coverage for all vacancies (Conductors, Engineers, Station Cleaners) to meet daily and emergency train service requirements, by applying the rules of the bargaining unit. In addition, the Crew Caller will provide daily coverage/ vacation relief for Station Agents, other contractually allotted lost time coverage, and any instance when track outages require additional customer service support. This position is responsible for maintaining proper assignments, calling personnel for duty and posting related records and coordinating track access requirements with the internal and external customers.

The position is also responsible for preparing and maintaining operations' correspondence, records and files; compiling and tabulating statistics and data; preparing and inputting the Unified Timekeeping System Functions; preparing requisitions for purchase orders; performing Metro Card sales.

This position requires the candidate to work weekends, holidays and be on call for PM and Midnight tours to cover train crew jobs as needed. Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License.**

Education and Experience

A HIgh School Diploma/GED along with a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience is required.

Desired Skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Staten Island Railway operations, rules, regulations and procedures

  • The ability to apply good judgment, take initiative and exhibit resourcefulness in a fast paced environment.

  • The ability to apply and comply with Staten Island Railway Safety Policies.

  • Proficiency in computer applications and programs, including comfort learning new applications and programs

  • Proficiency with Token Booth Terminal (TBT) and Metro Card Operations and Training (Transportation)

  • Strong knowledge of diversion/delivery operations, strategies and General Orders.

  • The ability to provide clear, concise direction during major incidents.
