The Senior Test Technician at Crestron will assist engineers, project leaders and managers with the creation of test solutions for Crestron products. Under supervision, this position will be responsible to assist with documentation development, parts procurement, tester/fixtures fabrication and assembly, deployment, and basic training for production. This position requires extensive electronics, computer and mechanical aptitude. In this role it is expected that the contributor assists engineers with minor design and code development/debug tasks, builds and support computerized test stations, troubleshoot test problems, procure instrumentation and equipment for production test systems as well as troubleshooting. Apply engineering theory and technical skills to support manufacturing engineering activities. Develops tools, implement designs and integrate machinery, equipment and computer technologies to ensure effective manufacturing processes. Demonstrated ability of being self-sufficient for troubleshooting and debug tasks.


  • Receive from test engineers’ sub-projects or tasks for concept development of test systems

  • Medium to advanced knowledge of test instrumentation including communication vehicles PXI, GPIB, Serial, LXI.

  • Prepare electrical and mechanical layouts, drawings, or sketches for new equipment design using appropriate software tools.

  • Fabricate or coordinate the fabrication of test fixtures or and test systems or equipment using blueprints

  • Ability to solder, run cabling or wiring, create wire harnesses and basic circuit boards

  • Independently performs activities such as tester debugging, reduction of intermittent failures and downtime of test equipment

  • Prepare and generate test documentation to be used by test and production with minimal guidance

  • Assist preparing technical reports and analysis of test data for use by test engineering and management personnel.

  • Monitor or measure production test performance to identify ways to reduce false failures, decrease test time requirements, or improve quality of the test.

  • Support the procurement, assembly, installation, deployment and validation of production test systems

  • Support manufacturing with troubleshooting of test equipment

  • Perform advanced assignments of test engineering functions for standard and/or custom devices.

  • Advanced use of computer software and hardware to conduct tests on product

  • Deploy test systems and provide training in new procedures to production testing staff where travel may be required

  • Develop or support maintenance programs/procedures associated with automated production test equipment

  • Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor

  • Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy

  • Other Duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Associate's degree and equivalent experience with solid electronics and computer skills, including computer support and networking

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a technical or engineering support role

  • Proven problem resolution and technical decision-making skill

  • Solid understanding about computers, Windows OS and Linux OS

  • Ability to understand and modify code in structured programming languages such as C, Phyton, Java, etc.

  • Ability to understand, install, support and modify LabView and Test Stand code.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Office software and CAD viewers including 3D models.

  • Excellent written and oral communication

  • The ability to work in a collaborative team environment

  • Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

  • Occasional lifting of test fixtures up to 30 pounds

  • Also travel up to 10% may be required
