Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
M-F 8am – 5pm
Duration: Summer 2021, 8-12 weeks
Scope of Internship:
Under the supervision of a Controls Engineer, the accepted candidate will work on projects to support the development of automated equipment used in Environmental Technologies processes. Projects will be designed to learn and utilize both software and hardware related to PLC’s, robotics, drives and sensors required to design factory automation. You will also learn Ethernet networks, vision systems, PID loop tuning and hands-on experience in a lab or factory setting.
Education and Experience
Enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate Level Engineering program; Electrical or Computer Engineering desired
To be considered for an internship at Corning Incorporated, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).
Knowledge and/or experience with PLC / micro-controllers, motors / motion
Basic understanding of Networking (ethernet, industrial networks, etc.)
Knowledge and/or experience with sensors, digital logic
General programming experience (Real-time preferred)
Project leadership Skills
Excellent critical analysis, and logic/reasoning skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and people skills; ability to interact with management, team members and external vendors.
Working knowledge of basic statistics and process engineering principles.
Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills
Experience with Six Sigma DMAIC principles
Collaboration in a multicultural environment
Soft Skills :

Strong attention to detail
