Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Works in conjunction with RNs to perform various exercise protocols on patients with known or suspected heart disease. Operates complex patient testing and monitoring equipment such as Exercise treadmill tests, nuclear stress test, holter monitors, event monitors, high level disinfection and electrocardiograms. Assists physician in procedures as required.

Responsibilities:

Obtains and documents pertinent information from patient, including but not limited to, vital signs and screening questions. Prepares patient for testing procedures. Records, observes and interprets ECG data during testing. Relays any abnormalities to the health care professional supervising the test.

Documents and records blood pressure and heart rate response, symptomatic episodes and significant ECG changes throughout the test. Monitors patient during recovery period.

Maintains knowledge of federal and state guidelines to ensure and maintain compliance with guidelines pertaining to storage of supplies and equipment. Ensures proper disposal of all patient care waste and supplies. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish and maintain safe work environment.

Prepares procedure room for scheduled test. Ensures adequate stock of supplies in each room. Assists with the maintenance, cleanliness and storage of equipment.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • 2 years of experience in a direct patient care related position

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Excellent data entry and computer skills

Preferred:

  • Associate’s degree in science, biology or related field

  • Cardiology background
