Position Summary:

Mt. Hope Family Center (MHFC) provides clinical services to the community through DHS contracts and federal grant funding. With limited supervision from the Clinical supervisor, the Clinical Data Specialist provides data management and support to the clinicians at MHFC.As part of a dynamic, high volume evidence-based center, this position requires flexibility to various tasks as needed, coordinating with multidisciplinary clinical teams to assist with extracting data to complete annual reporting deadlines, organizing physical and electronic data, performing data entry and data management, creating and maintaining measure keying screens; maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA privacy and security policies and data quality assurance and quality control standards. Ensures quality in all aspects of data management. Requires collaboration with investigators, health project coordinators, analyst programmers and other clinical personnel.


  • Log high volume incoming clinical research data for multiple clinical programs, review for accuracy and completeness, scan and verify data, determine if data queries are necessary.

  • Assist multiple clinicians in developing data collection instruments and methods, establish and maintain databases, and perform data quality checks.

  • Assist in creating quarterly and annual reports for county contracts and grant funders, and other study- related items as necessary such as manuals and training materials.

  • Work with clinical teams and IT to design/create funder data entry screens for study questionnaires and create Access databases for data to be keyed into. Analyze and suggest improvements in flow of information, error detection/correction, etc., work closely with clinicians in developing appropriate data handling procedures for each program.

  • Prepare weekly site-specific progress reports and summaries of data; send queries to staff for clarification or missing data; report study progress to research team on weekly basis.

  • Log and scan assessments received from off sites and assist with filing physical and electronic storage. Assist in developing SOPs for all aspects of data management.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Bachelor's degree with course work in the field of behavioral health/social sciences, and 2 years of related experience.Must have strong computer skills (Microsoft Access, Excel and Word), accuracy and close attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent organizational skills.
