GENERAL PURPOSE:Responsible for developing, documenting and executing a comprehensive, strategic, logistics plan to drive optimal customer service and profitability. This includes the establishment and ongoing oversight of a centralized distribution center for essential high volume supplies and materials (including PPE) used for the effective and efficient operation of the medical center. Responsible to identify, assess and execute location, resource, processing and staffing solutions (including consideration of third party logistics solutions) in support of the organization's goals and objectives. Continuously measures performance against key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying and executing process improvements. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, documents, and executes a comprehensive logistics strategic plan to drive optimal internal customer service and profitability. Develops and implements performance metrics for leaders and their teams (or a third-party logistics provider). Analyzes logistics to meet organization's financial and performance goals. Evaluates and makes recommendations for future expansion of goods and supplies to incorporate in to the centralized logistics model. Identifies and executes logistic policies and procedures that enable long-term emergency preparedness.

  • Defines, designs and oversees ongoing operation of a centralized distribution center and cross-dock for receipt, storage, and distribution of high volume common items for the UR System, including PPE. Works with cross-functional team to identify site requirements, select optimal location, and negotiate terms for acquired property and associated operational needs. Identifies and monitors space utilization/layout on an ongoing basis to ensure efficient and cost effective operations. Participates in negotiations of lease and other services in support of the establishment and ongoing operation of the distribution center, ensuring the organization is utilizing the most cost-effective goods and services. Continuously assesses and improves all processes.

  • Works with stakeholders to map workstreams, resources, and scope of operations in order to drive optimal organizational performance, internal customer service and profitability. Evaluates operational processes and procedures, develops strategies and implements plans to improve and standardize operations across all division, locations and affiliates.

  • Provides manpower forecasts that are in line with the organization's budget and financial goals. Assesses operational requirements and costs to determine appropriate staffing model for distribution operations, weighing internal staffing against third party logistics solutions. Oversee, attracts, selects, performance manages, and retains a talented, diverse work force.

  • Works with IT and other stakeholders to assess, execute and maintain information system needs for operations, including but not limited to, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Warehouse Management System (WMS) tools. Integrates systems as needed with other UR Systems from other departments (eg Workday for Finance and Accounts Payable).

  • Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures related to codes of conduct and ethics in all dealings externally with suppliers or other similar agencies, and internally with team members and other departments. Establishes and maintains internal controls and reports any potential violations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in business or technical major required; Master's degree preferred with course work, concentration or continuing education in healthcare or supply chain. 10 years of experience in cross-functional roles in supply chain/purchasing/warehousing with direct supplier management responsibilities required; 5 years of direct management and/or leadership experience with systems implementation and operationalization preferred. Required knowledge, skills and abilities: Leadership and collaboration in a cross-functional environment; Communication, presentation, and negotiation; Project management and leadership. Microsoft tools and Business systems preferred. Certification in purchasing, quality and/or supply chain preferred.
