DePaul Director of Recreation in Rochester, New York

DePaul Community Services is looking for a passionate recreation professional to lead our team and oversee the ooperations of the Recreation Department.

  • Respects Participants confidentiality and demonstrates a positive caring attitude toward all Participants, staff and guests.

  • Responsible for coordination and implementation of a master comprehensive recreation schedule offered at the Recreation department.

  • Responsible for oversight of Activities Coordinators’ development and implementation of recreation activity, social program for SROs, Apartment Programs and CRs. Insure a combination and variety of community outings and on-site social activities at each site.

  • Maintain attendance and participation reports at activities and outing for Recreation department (at Recreation Center and program sites).

  • Provide regular supervision and support to Activities Coordinators.

  • Physical Plant upkeep including exercise equipment, gym floor, office and storage areas.

  • Responsible for staying current on Mandatory Trainings for OMH staff and insuring staff attend and track due dates for all Recreation Department staff.

  • Responsible for the timely reporting of Incidents per DePaul policy and NYS.

  • Responsible for operational budget for the Recreation Department, including oversight of expense account submissions and receipts. Oversee acquisition of needed supplies for activities and events.

  • Provide and or coordinate transportation to and from activities when needed.

  • Observe safety rules and regulations for self and others.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a Physical Education Degree with 3-years of Human Service experience, or a degree in Occupational Therapy.

Experience: Three (3) years of experience running a multifaceted recreation program for people in various stages of recovery from Mental Illness. Experience leading large group activities. Strong Crisis Prevention and response skills. Preferred experience maintaining facility equipment. Preferred Supervisory experience.

Other: Must have clean driving record that meets agency’s clean driving record policy.
