Job Placement Specialist
The Job Placement Specialist provides job development and placement services to individuals recovering from chemical dependency and/or mental illness. Partners with community employers to make appropriate job matches, offers incentives to employers, and attends community meetings to promote services. Completes intakes for new referrals within funder guidelines: appointments scheduled with each new referral in a timely manner; intake paperwork competed after the initial meeting; decision made regarding the appropriateness of the admission; and outreach done for clients who neglect to make appointments. Assesses job readiness of clients, teaches job seeking skills and helps develop a plan to secure employment. Consults with East House Career Counselors regarding their job development and placement services and acts as an agency resource for information on community job openings and trends. Acts as a liaison to ACCES, NY SOARS, and other organizations for referrals of job placements and clients. Provides job retention skills training and support to clients following their placement, including helping clients address on-the-job problems and other issues (i.e. transportation, child care) that may affect employment. Communicates with other providers and employers about the needs, progress and status of clients. Contacts employers to advocate and support job placement for individual clients. Develops and maintains employer relationships to learn about employer needs and job opportunities; explains East House services; and regularly communicates information and profiles to clients who are job-ready and seeking employment. Coordinates job placement in department: informs team of job openings in the Rochester community and assists with related needs; delegates NY SOARS client referrals to department staff when appropriate, to augment service delivery to that population; and coordinates information and inputs data into the WITS system for NY SOARS. Maintains client records to the standards defined by funders and East House policies and procedures. Establishes and maintains a database to track contracts and employment outcomes.
Hours:35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, recruiting or human services and two years’ paid business or marketing experience. License or certification in human services’ field preferred. Paid human services or job placement experience strongly preferred. Knowledge of mental illness, chemical dependency, case management, employment goal setting and job readiness training skills preferred.
NYS motor vehicle license, safe driving record, and availability of personal vehicle for work required.
Wages are determined based on job-related education and experience.
