FIFCO USA Steam Operator in Rochester, New York
JOB SUMMARY
The Steam Plant Operator will work under the direction of the Chief Engineer and operate high pressure boilers, boiler feedwater, and steam distribution systems. In this role, you will work with water softeners, de-alkalizers, and related boiler room equipment.
STATUS: Full Time
SHIFT: Rotating 12-hour shifts; Weekends, holidays and OT as required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform water treatment testing and analysis on the boilers and related equipment
Execute all operation and maintenance functions to ensure the plant runs safely and efficiently
Conduct hourly rounds and maintain daily maintenance logs
Continue to train and learn on both a self-directed and class-oriented training program
Analyze problems and take appropriate action to ensure continuous and reliable operation of equipment and systems
Observe and interpret readings on gauges, meters, and charts registering various aspects of boiler operation to ensure that boilers are operating properly
Monitor chemical and water levels
Operate stationary boilers and auxiliary equipment such as pump compressors to apply and maintain steam for building heat and production
Assist during plant shutdowns and boiler inspections
Regular preventative maintenance as required
Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), properly wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and follow all safety and company policies at all times

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Must hold a minimum of a current 3rd class City of Rochester Stationary Engineer License
2-5 years of related experience
Experience operating boilers, de-alkalizers, pumps, motors, turbines, and fans
Experience working with various fuel oils
Ability to read and interpret plant drawings and procedures
Basic computer knowledge is necessary, including Microsoft Office Suite
Working knowledge of fire (i.e. flame management system and Allen Bradley Micro-Logix System) preferred
Ability to work independently, problem solve, troubleshoot, and practice safety at all times (LOTO and confined space)
High school diploma or equivalent
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Required to pass a negative pressure respiratory mask fit test
Ability to operate hand tools and machinery as needed
Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. as well as push, pull, climb, crawl, bend, and stand/walk for up to 10 hours per day
Exposure to moderate to high noise levels, outside weather, brewery environment, cleaning chemicals, crowded physical conditions, and extreme fluctuations of temperature
