V&V Engineer ( Verification and Validation Engineer )

V&V Engineer participates in System Design meetings to develop requirements that can be practically validated and defines the methods of validation. V&V Engineer prepares test plans, procedures, and reports to validate specified requirements. V&V Engineer performs tests in-factory in accordance with these test plans and procedures. V&V Engineer plans, estimates, directs, and leads Project V&V work. V&V Engineer writes test automation scripts.

  • Performs analysis of system and subsystem requirements to define validation methods, and test cases;

  • Participates in the planning of the V&V Project work, including the preparation of V&V test plans;

  • Identifies test objectives and test cases and prepares overall tests (test sheets, test scenarios, and test result tables) in accordance with the V&V test plans;

  • Performs test sessions: runs test procedures in factory and produces the associated Change Requests when required;

  • Prepares test reports which record the pass / fail status of planned tests and identifies problems detected during the tests;

  • Assists with reviews of work of other staff performing V&V work;

  • Assists with in-factory assignments/tasks, ensuring application of standards, practices/procedures, quality assurance, and adherence to budgets;

  • Performs investigations on defects detected on the test bench through analysis of data files / design documentation and interaction with development departments;

  • Prepares problem reports in the defect tracking system describing test failures and defects;

  • Assists in estimating the workload, the development of V&V schedules and budgets, and progress reporting;

  • Performs traceability analysis;

  • Assists in development of V&V processes and tools;

Skill, Experience, Education:

  • At least a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent

  • Ideally experience working in Railway Industry, in such areas such as verification and validation, rail signaling ( for example wayside interlocking, etc ), PTC, CBTC, etc

  • Previous experience such as: software quality assurance engineer (SQA engineer), QA / tester, SDET, software tester, hardware tester, firmware tester, railway signal engineer (signal design engineer, signaling engineer), signal designer (signaling designer), T&C engineer, etc

  • Previous experience with testing automation, test automation / scripting, firmware engineering, signal processing, device drivers design, hardware design, electronics, C/C++ development, embedded platforms, real-time software, etc will be a plus

  • Experience with DOORS / ClearQuest will be a plus.
