Avantor, Inc. Quality Control Technician in Sanborn, New York

Job SummaryResponsible for providing testing of raw materials and finished products.


  • Reviews for discrepancies in data, manufacturer COA, COC, and performs data verification in accordance with company procedures

  • Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing of the following tests: bioburden, endotoxin, Dnase, Rnase, Protease, Atomic Absorption, FTIR and Absorbance.

  • Follow and adhere to cGLP’s, cGMP’s and all safety regulations as they apply to the laboratory and work areas.

  • Maintain equipment and rooms in proper operation condition by following daily cleaning requirements.

  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory instrumentation.

  • Observe proper documentation practices.

  • Works closely with internal departments to assure commitment to customer is met in a timely manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in a natural/life science discipline with knowledge and experience in one of the following area; Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology or Cell Culture

  • 0-2 years experience in related field

  • Technical writing experience

  • Wet chemistry experience preferred (ex. Acid/Base Titrations, water content)

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)

  • Must have applied working knowledge of various laboratory instrumentation (i.e., FTIR, Auto-Titrator, UV/VIS)

  • Must be able to work independently with limited direct supervision, have demonstrated ability to follow through on multiple projects, and be goal oriented with a strong desire for achievement

  • Familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access).

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills


Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.

Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.

A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.

Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
