Shift: Saturday-Sunday
SUMMARY
Responsible for the execution of HKS’s Mission, goals and objectives by preparing and serving meals to all students, staff and guests at the Helen Keller National Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Begins preparation of food items as instructed by the Senior Cook and/or Food Services Manager.
Prepares and delivers coffee carts for in house meetings, training seminars and special event functions.
Direct and monitor students engaged in work experience assignments as instructed by the Food Services Manager.
Assists in the service of the luncheon meal and other meals as assigned.
Responsible for the cleanliness and safety of any and all equipment used during food preparation.
Directs kitchen workers in maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
Documents as appropriate, items taken from inventory for food preparation, i.e., dry ingredients storage, walk-in refrigerator, walk-in freezer, paper goods and emergency supply store room.
Enters data on to daily meal/salad bar census and weekly working menu as requested by the Food Services Manager.
Records temperature of refrigerator and freezer.
Responsible for receiving lunch receipts from staff and visitors when serving all meals.
Responsible for other duties as may be assigned or requested by his/her immediate supervisor and/or HKNC Administration.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent, preferably from a school technical providing instruction in cooking, food processing, handling, and food ingredients.
Two years of full time experience as a cook in an institutional or commercial facility.
