Hill-Rom Senior Manager of Manufacturing Engineering in Skaneateles Falls, New York

As the Manufacturing Engineering (Sr) Manager, you will lead a team of highly qualified engineers and technicians responsible for creating, improving, and resolving issues for manufacturing processes as well as performing calibrations and maintaining calibration records for Hillrom's Skaneateles Falls site The position's key measures of success include safety, quality, (project) delivery, and cost performance.
You will partner with colleagues in R&D, Sustaining Engineering, EHS, Supply Chain, Quality, Sourcing, and Finance to identify and implement manufacturing process improvements while keeping our manufacturing processes operating at top performance to support Hillrom's continued growth.
Lead the Skaneateles Falls Manufacturing Engineering and Calibration teams in the following activities:
Create, document, and validate manufacturing processes for new products.
Improve or resolve issues with safety, quality, and cost performance of existing manufacturing processes.
Establish and maintain production and process controls to ensure that manufactured medical devices conform to their specifications as required by FDA regulations (21 CFR 820.7x)
Initiate and implement engineering changes as required by quality procedures.
Calibrate the tooling and measurement equipment used for inspection and manufacturing processes.
Plan, execute, and close projects following project management best practices.
Plan and budget for adequate equipment, space, staffing, and staff skills to meet projected workload requirements.
Assign resources and adjust assignments as needed to meet business requirements.
Communicate team and project performance vs. targets to team members and site leadership.
Communicate company information to team members such as corporate communications, upcoming site events, and new or changing policies.
Develop the staff's capabilities to consistently meet and improve performance.
Ensure activities are conducted in compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
Develop and execute changes to the team's workflow, work methods, equipment, and tools that will improve the team's value to the organization.
Four year degree in engineering; preferred major in Industrial, Electrical, or Mechanical engineering.
Manager level: Three to five years of experience as a manufacturing engineer with
increasing responsibilities and demonstrated success improving processes.
Senior Manager Level: Manager level experience plus three to five years of experience successfully leading an engineering team through multiple complex projects with successful outcomes.
Working knowledge of FDA regulations for production and process controls, and process validation (21 CFR820.7x)
Knowledge and experience with Lean methods sufficient to achieve and sustain substantial improvements in manufacturing operations.
People management skills sufficient to establish and maintain a high degree of employee engagement so that employees are the primary source of improvement ideas while developing team members so that they are able to increase their capabilities and responsibilities within the organization.
Peer relationships skills sufficient to closely coordinate and collaborate with peers to resolve issues and identify / implement improvements.
Data analysis skills sufficient to compile large amounts of relevant data to identify trends and estimate the impact of process changes to confirm that the changes will have a positive impact on the entire organization and avoid changes that may result in sub-optimization.
Statistical analysis skills sufficient to justify engineering changes, production and process controls, and process validations.
Verbal and written communication skills sufficient to keep team members, peers, and leadership informed of performance and to concisely propose improvements that will benefit the entire organization.
Project management skills sufficient to managed projects from planning through completion, including communication of project goals objectives, resource requirements, progress vs. schedule, and achievements.
System / technology skills: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint, ERP systems (SAP preferred)
