Robinson Terrace Rehabilitation and Nursing Center Medication Technician in Stamford, New York

We are currently seeking a full time and part time Med Techs for all shifts.

Duties Include:

Nursing Care – Directs quality resident care through the nursing process.

  • Reviews resident care needs and planned interventions with co-assigned workers.

  • Offers supervision and assistance with meds as ordered within both State and Facility guidelines using safe and aseptic techniques.

  • Keeps informed and updated on new drugs and side effects.

  • Monitors resident for side effects of drugs given.

  • Shows good judgement in urgent or emergency situations: supports staff when needed doing direct resident care.

  • Helps on the floors as needed.

  • Stocks and cleans med. room and cart.

  • Supervises aides when RN Case Manager or LPN Charge not on duty, while maintaining a positive and helpful attitude.

  • Completes documentation and assures completeness and accuracy. Reports problems to the administrator.

  • Recognizes inferior standards of performance and guides staff toward increased efficiency and performance.

  • Shows leadership by participating in planning and supporting delivery of resident care.

  • Establish and maintain effective working rapport with co-workers resulting in mutual respect and cooperation.

  • Communicates changes in policies and procedures and passes information on Administration to Staff.

  • Support and participates in quality assurance studies as assigned.

  • Provides input to Administrator/Case Manager in preparation of performance appraisals annually or as needed.

Risk Management:

  • Aware of and follows all pertinent policies and procedures. Seeks out resources when not sure of action to be taken.

  • Fully documents on resident’s charts with appropriate information; if unsure of appropriate documentation, seeks advice from Administrator/Case Manager.

  • Carries out and monitors good hand washing techniques and observes principles of infection control.

  • Shows professionalism by assuming responsibility of actions and continued professional growth.

  • Sets an example through attitude, behavioral performance, appearance and upholding the philosophy, objectives policies and procedures of the facility.

  • Participates in in-service and continuing education programs evidenced by documentation. Shares knowledge and nursing expertise with other staff members.

Requirements Include:

  • Clean driver’s license.

  • Previous experience with Geriatric population preferred.

  • Strong computer skills necessary.

  • Positive attitude and energy are musts!!

  • Ability to work effectively as a team member.

  • Strong organizational & planning skills; ability to multi-task.
