Job Details:

Extracts, verifies, tracks, analyzes and reports data for NCDR registries including but not limited to; TAVR, Watchman, ICD implants and to the NYDOH for PCI procedures. Identifies trends and recommends process improvement initiatives. Supports performance of analysis, designs reports for use by clinicians and administrators, develops and validates operational information for clinical departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Extracts required data from medical records or other sources containing patient clinical data.

  • Interfaces data from EMR for reporting purposes to the appropriate registries; develops and analyzes systems needed to obtain all required information or statistics.

  • Analyzes, verifies, tracks and reports on trends data in a timely manner prior to the mandated deadline.

  • Verifies and populates patient clinical data in designated databases.

  • Maintains consistency and integrity of data collection; reports any concerns regarding data integrity.

  • Assists with implementation of databases; trains staff on data capture and data entry.

  • Collaborates with various departments and providers in database development and required modifications.

  • Functions independently, work assignments are varied and require interpretation and independent decisions on course of action.

  • Verifies correct devices/supplies used during procedures are correctly charted and accurately charged.

  • Verifies charges for EP Lab, Cardiac Cath Lab and Pre/post Area.

  • Makes appropriate corrections.

  • Submits patient/procedure information for billing purposes.

  • Reconciles discrepancies were needed, eliminates duplication and ensures completeness and accuracy of charges.

  • Receives transaction reports from device and procedure representatives.

  • Verifies that the devices/supplies that we are billed for were used during our procedure.

  • Submits the information through INFOR to generate purchase orders for these supplies and provides the device/procedure representative’s with purchase order.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

NY License as a Registered Nurse. 1-3 years of relevant data abstraction experience. Understanding and interpreting data of cardiac procedures highly preferred.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

OTHER:

If applicable, the individual performing this job may reasonably anticipate coming into contact with human blood and other potentially infectious materials. Individuals in this position are required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies concerning infection control
