KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Models and drives the Carrier Way culture into the group.

  • Mentors and coaches the development team

  • Leads the commercial new product development engineering activities for the semi-custom air handler product line

  • Uses lean methodology to drive process optimization of development and launch activities

  • Lead product road map development in collaboration with technical experts, department director, and product management.

  • Develop and drive program planning for product development and customer facing product selection software

  • Manage annual budget to align with business goals and new product introduction schedules.

  • Use agile and occasionally waterfall implementation strategies that would allow for modular build of front end and back end code that will lead to a robust Product Lifecycle Management.

TYPICAL EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering or equivalent discipline preferred.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+yr relevant design experience

  • Creo 3D modeling or equivalent

  • VBA, Java, and/or XML Programming experience

  • Ability to conceptualize highly configurable equipment in 3 Dimensions

  • Proven ability to lead dynamic agile teams focused on customer experience and product delivery

KEY SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to team members as well as executive leadership

  • Hands-on experience working in an Engineering design environment.

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities.

  • Ability to lead through skills assessment, requirements management, and strategic goal alignment

  • Working knowledge of waterfall and agile development technique

  • Lead the organization technically on software related areas for Air Handler Product Lifecycle Management (development, production, and sustainment)

  • Strong teamwork/collaboration skills

  • HVAC experience a plus.

KEY SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, & PowerPoint).

  • JavaScript

  • VBA

  • XML

  • Adaptable to existing code structure

  • MarkLogic experience is a plus.
