Syracuse University Director Health Promotion in Syracuse, New York

Barnes Center at The Arch is Syracuse University's integrated health and wellness center that incorporates counseling, health, health promotion, and recreation. As part of the Barnes Center leadership team, the Director Health Promotion is responsible for the oversight and management of all aspects of Health Promotion which consists of an associate director, two assistant directors, a program coordinator, a peer education coordinator, a health promotion specialist, an admin assistant, grad assistants and a robust peer education program.

The Director leads a university-wide prevention plan that establishes a supportive environment for student success and health behavior through the development and application of population-level initiatives including prevention activities and health assessments, engagement and cultivation of partnerships to address student health needs, and application and evaluation of theoretical frameworks and planning models that address individual and community health.

Public health initiatives include recovery programing, substance abuse prevention, sexual health promotion, suicide prevention, mental health promotion, and sexual and relationship violence prevention. Programs include pet therapy, mindspa, wellness leadership institute, and community wellness requirements for incoming students.
