AccessCNY Maintenance Specialist - 2392 in Syracuse, New York

HOURS: Full-Time 40 hours per week

Monday – Friday 11:00 am - 7:00 pm

Flexibility Required

Number of hours subject to change based on department/participant needs

Main Function:

To provide cleaning and recycling services to Agency offices.


  1. Routine Cleaning
  • According to a weekly schedule, provide routine cleaning of Court Street location as follows:

  • Dust art work, nick-knacks, blinds, window sills, etc.

  • Thoroughly clean rest room(s)

  • Refill feminine products as needed

  • Empty trash in offices and shared spaces

  • Vacuum carpeted areas

  • Mop floors as needed

  1. Implement Recycling Program
  • Empty paper shredders, set up fresh bag(s), vacuum paper scraps, transfer shredded paper to paper/cardboard dumpster

  • Collect paper/cardboard recycling from Court Street offices daily – dispose in paper/cardboard dumpster

  • Collect non-redeemable recycling from receptacles at least weekly and transport to recycling area on 1st floor; call for pick up when warranted

  1. Special Cleaning & Projects
  • Assist with special projects such as office moves and new furniture

  • Sweep Loma entrance porch/ramp at least three times per week

  • Assist with snow shoveling in winter

  • Utilize carpet shampooer for spot cleaning and high traffic areas

  • Assist with events such as Agency Anniversary, Summer Picnic, etc.

  1. Day Care
  • Provide routine cleaning of Classrooms and Offices as follows:

  • Thoroughly clean rest room(s) and classrooms daily

  • Vacuum all carpeted areas

  • Utilize carpet shampooer for spot cleaning and high traffic areas

  • Mop tile and linoleum/vinyl floors daily

  • Pick up and store mats and clean floor in S.I. room bi-weekly

  1. Other duties as assigned

Scope of Responsibility:

With some supervision, uses own experience and judgment to review and carry out assigned duties. Prepares items in order of priority; primarily uses own judgment in setting priority. Contact with the public is minimal. Limited access to confidential information which must be respected.

Education & Experience:

High school diploma/GED preferred. Must be able to read or otherwise receive and understand instructions. Must be able to communicate with supervisor and identified key employees.

Conditions of Employment:

Must be able to lift 50 pounds. A hand cart will be available for heavy packages. Must be able to use cleaning products without allergic reaction. Must have transportation necessary to meet program needs. Must participate in successful database checks through the HHS Office of Inspector General, Excluded Parties List System, New York Office of Medicaid Inspector General and Specially Designate Nationals.
