Van Duyn Center for Nursing and Rehab RN Infection Preventionist in Syracuse, New York
The primary purpose of this job position is to plan, organize, develop, coordinate, and direct our infection prevention and control program and its activities in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern such programs, and as may be directed by the Administrator and the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Committee (QAPI) to ensure that an effective infection prevention and control program is maintained at all times.
The role includes tracking and trending of data with development of education for performance improvement. Reporting to the QAPI committee trending data and audit results with recommendation for performance improvement plans.
Education and Licensure Requirements Must possess, as a minimum, a nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing. Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in NY state.
Experience Prerequisites: minimum two (2) years clinical experience in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related healthcare facility. Must possess a working knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, and aseptic technique to include standard/transmission-based precautions. CDC Infection Preventionist certification required within the first month of hire. APIC Certification in infection prevention and control preferred, but not necessary
