Willis Towers Watson User Experience Strategist and Designer in White Plains, New York

The Role

As a User Experience Strategist and Designer within the Work & Rewards Innovation Team, you will be focused on our advisory, data and software opportunities and the innovative capabilities needed for growth across the broader Work & Rewards business, in many cases enabled by technology. You will help transform our business by accelerating ideas from concept to commercialization. Your expertise in early-stage conceptual prototyping and interviewing skills to collect client and stakeholder feedback combined with the visionary perspective of our executive sponsors help shape the concepts you will help manage from proof-of-concept development, to solution testing/refinement, to investment pitches and implementation.

  • Through continuous collaboration with executive sponsors, contributes to the development of innovative concepts that directly support our Work & Rewards business.

  • Domain examples include reward strategy, pay data and analytics, pay for performance, compensation benchmarking, pay equity, work strategy, organizational analysis, knowledge architecture (skills), workforce analytics/planning, functional org design, reinventing jobs and reskilling, and career framework/enablement.

  • Typical innovation responsibilities include vision refinement, stakeholder interviews, identifying market problems, proof of concept creation (prototyping), partnership evaluations, solution testing, intellectual capital and/or framework creation, competitive analysis, investment business case development and contribution to client proposals about new capabilities.

  • Lead, foster and inspire a customer-centric, agile, and innovative culture within Work & Reward by evangelizing Design Thinking.

  • Leads client and internal stakeholder research agenda related to innovation to uncover unmet needs and pain-points, including empathetic approach to personal interviews and other means of understanding through qualitative and quantitative measures.

  • Participates in solution brainstorming and creates prototypes, creates conceptual visualizations, and develops testing approaches to facilitate feedback and refinement of those concepts.

  • Continuous collaboration with the Willis Towers Watson (WTW) Corporate Innovation and User Research colleagues to implement best practices, stay informed about latest market trends and contribute to innovation initiatives across WTW.

  • Act as an ambassador for user-centered design by helping to plan and implement innovation challenges and present at company events, workshops, and conferences to encourage a customer-centric culture of innovation.

  • Develop new product and business concepts into sustainable, organic growth opportunities while building a strong culture of intrapreneurship across WTW Work & Rewards.

The Requirements

  • 7+ years of user experience design, research, and user interviewing in the context of technology solutions in support of consulting or data intelligence businesses (preferably HR related).

  • Strategic thinking and entrepreneurial mindset – able to identify and solve challenges, think outside the box, facilitate discussions, drive consensus on project teams and execute ideas with a view toward commercial success.

  • Comfortable with loosely defined requirements where you exercise your creative and analytical skills to collaborate with executive sponsors and the rest of the team to iteratively create/test solutions.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to synthesize and communicate complex results to senior leaders and clients.

  • Research abilities – experience performing primary and secondary research to detect early-stage market trends and nuances, including surveys, interviews, leading client advisory board sessions, market data analysis, competitive and start-up venture profiles, investment community outlooks and sourcing from online or academic resources.

  • Ability to shape ambiguity, govern and prioritize in a matrixed environment across organizational boundaries.

  • Demonstrated success working remotely with globally distributed, cross-functional, and highly collaborative team in an agile work environment.

  • Working knowledge of innovation frameworks: Design Thinking and Lean start-up proposal principles.
